Customer Software Support Representative to Progressive Organizers

New Union Work Systems, Inc. (NUWS) is looking for a professional, energetic customer-service oriented communicator to join our East Bay team. NUWS is committed to helping labor unions and progressive organizations use technology and databases to build power and communicate effectively with current and future members. We develop database software and Palm Pilot applications that support grassroots organizing with a particular focus on labor unions.

Job Description:

The Customer Software Support Representative will provide quality support and training directly to clients by responding promptly to support inquiries received from direct telephone, e-mail, and web support site. You will have the ability to log directly into client s machines in order to help provide quality support and training.

Responsibilities:
* Respond promptly and timely to support inquiries received from direct telephone, e-mail, and web support site
* Become proficient in NUWS products
* Identify and document product issues, enhancements, and requests in the appropriate tracking system
* Work with clients to set up and install applications and encourage user feedback.
* Use tools we ve developed to import client data into our application
* Provide training and consulting expertise to clients on how to best use our applications
* Monitor and develop on-line articles for our Email List Serve
* Other duties as required by manager
Experience/Skills Required:
* Understanding of database application functions and design as well
* Intuitive understanding of computer software.
* Excellent problem solving, communications and interpersonal skills
* Ability to analyze, identify and solve technical problems
* Proven ability to learn emerging technology
* Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally
* Ability to work independently, and within a team
* Patience, sense of humor, and an active listener so our clients know you are on their side and part of their team
Experience/Skills Desired:
* Understanding of how to run a union organizing or other grassroots organizing campaigns.
* Microsoft Access
* Conversational Spanish a plus
Compensation and benefits:
* Pay: $18 per hour starting salary.
* Hours: 20 Hours Per Week Monday-Friday 9:00am 1:00 pm
* Health Benefits: $100/$200 individual/family health insurance reimbursement
* Retirement: We offer an employer matching Simple-IRA plan after first year
* Vacation: Three weeks per year to start.
